Veritable Quandry
On my day spent exploring downtown Portland, I decided to try a new place for lunch. This restaurant was listed as the best outdoor patio dining restaurant in Portland Monthly magazine. You can see the patio wraps around this side of the restaurant with the large tree shading it and a variety of potted flowers and plants. Seated on this street side and around the corner from the main patio (popular ploy of restaurants to single women), I sat for ten minutes with no waiter/waitress talking to me. Just as I was getting ready to leave, the waitress noticed me and was very apologetic. She brought me a free drink and bread and butter while I waited for my fish stew. She was very attentive after that. The fish stew was excellent (prawns, clams, mussels, salmon, halibut, calamari, and a whole starfish on top)!
The patio, though, was very noisy with traffic going by steadily only a few feet away and construction going on across the street. I would not say this is the best outdoor patio dining experience.
Best in Portland: Stella Caffe
This little food cart at 9th Ave. and Alder in Portland won best Chai Tea from Portland Monthly magazine. I love trying out Best Of"s, so I tried it out today. Yes, it was handcrafted. Yes, it took 5 minutes to make. Yes, it was made with tea, whole spices and milk. yes, it was swirled and poured, swirled and poured. Yes, it was the best chai I have had in 7 years! It deserves the Best of!
When you are on a transition journey or any journey, head on over there for a unique and wonderful chai taste.
The First Step
"How does it feel to be retired?" the question I am asked over and over. Don't know. I am working now and again a week in July. Then I will take a few months off. That will feel like retirement I guess. But after that, search for work again!
All good...
